Chemical Peel

What is a chemical peel?

A chemical peel is solution applied to the face to remove dead skin cells and stimulate the growth of new cells. The aim is to improve the appearance of the skin.

At TW aesthetics we use medium depth TCA peels from Skintech

What is a TCA peel?

A TCA (trichloroacetic acid) peel is a chemical skin peel.

The depth of skin peeled during the treatment can be adjusted according to the strength of the acid used (15%, 20%, 25% )

How Does a TCA Peel Work?

TCA breaks up keratin, a protein found in the skin. This causes the keratin to stop functioning properly, lighten in color and peel away from the skin over the course of several days. As the layers of damaged skin are removed, healthier, smoother skin is revealed beneath.

What are the benefits of a chemical peel?

  • Improve the overall tone and texture of your skin
  • Lighten and brighten your skin
  • Remove or reduce sun damage and age spots
  • Reduce pore size and soften fine lines and wrinkles
  • Reduce or eliminate Hyperpigmentation and acne scars
  • Improve acne skin conditions and Melasma
  • Stimulate the production of collagen resulting in firmer skin
  • Slow down the aging process and prevent wrinkles

What does the procedure involve?

Your skin will be cleansed and degrease with an acetone solution
The TCA is then applied with a cotton-tipped applicator or gauze you may feel a tingling or burning sensation. After about five minutes, additional layers can be applied to increase the depth of the peel.
Once the desired number of layers have been applied, the TCA will be removed from the skin and a cool compress is applied for several minutes, followed by a protective cream and SPF.
